Airport Privatization

Airports are the first impression of anyone coming to our country. Those who have gone there know that they are in a state of chaos compounded by the rise in air traffic over the years. People complain about the bad behavior of the airport employees and also rampant corruption. It also lacks in the use of modern technology for the comfort and convenience of the travelers.
Modernization of airports is being long due but the government does not have enough money and expertise to do it on its own. So the only option left is to privatize then.
Once these private companies come they are going to down size and make them as efficient as possible. Workers are afraid that they will lose there jobs once the airports are privatized. Government has given surety that any employees of AAI who loses there jobs will be absorbed in other sectors. So I don’t understand why they are trying to be a bottleneck.
Government should not bend to the unfair demands of the unions and should go ahead and do what has been long due.

Going through the myth and reality section helped me to understand the workers point of view.
One thing that we all will agree is that we need airport modernization and what ever u said of them being ISO 9001:2000 we still have to go a long way compared to other international airports.
It can be concluded that it has been a failure on the part of government not to have done enough. It is using the current popular wave in support of privatization, to hide its failure and do away with its responsibility.
Your alternate plan is perfect but the present government it seems has accepted its and all past governments failure at not being able to modernize airports and the only way forward it thinks is to privatize them.
