Trip to Yoga Capital Rishikesh



We started our Journey from Delhi. Trip was with Parents and hence the it was to relax and get away from the Delhi pollution and a take short break in November 2017

Parmarth Niketan
I decided to stay at Parmarth Niketan, probably the best place in Rishikesh with the most enchanting Ganga aarti. Ghats are so clean and water is cold. Food is not that expensive. We tried the food at the famous "Chooti wala" and it was decent.

Route
Roads from Delhi to Rishikesh are not that great. And it being so smogy , it took us almost 7 hours to reach Rishikesh.
While coming back, it was even worse. Meerut to Delhi was jam packed and took almost 4 hours.

Neelkanth Temple
On the first day we went to the very famous Neelkanth temple. It is around 1 hours drive from Parmarth. Temple is situated at a higher altitude then Rishikesh and it gets cold there. It's famous as the place where Lord Shiv drank the poison.

Continuing from my earlier post I wanted to answer one more question which I strongly feel about. Why is India an undeveloped country even 50 years into Independence? At the time of our independence it was well accepted that for all of our misery,famines and poverty the British rule was responsible. As a consequence we developed a fear for all things foreign ( Xenophobia ). We adopted a policy which aimed at self reliance. Our exports which at the time of independence were 4.5% of world share dropped to .1 % in late 80’s. All this time the government was sitting on its laurels of having made India a self reliant country in agriculture but it had all this time neglected education. Chembra Peak (Kerala) Trek

I got the first hand experience to witness and feel why Kerala is called "Gods own country" I went there with a group of 3 on July 21st 2012 . We left Bangalore around 10:30pm by bus and reached the place around 10am next day. This included a 3 hour wait at Bandipur National Park as its closed till 6am and a 2 hour breakfast break. The base camp is further 3.5 KM through the beautifully breath taking tea estate of some Ms Fatima. Finally ready by 11am to start our trek , we left with lot of excitement and hope to reach the summit within 90 minutes. A target we set for our self. The trek itself is moderate level. When we started we realized this is not going to be easy. As it was slippery after the morning shower. Bangalore...

Bangalore is a name that has acquired global importance. Its the face of India .It has also brought wealth and prosperity to many (but not for those who were ‘ bangalored ’). I was just 7 yrs old when I first visited Bangalore. It was the garden city of India. And now after fifteen years I came back. But this time not as a visitor, but for work.
