Krabi Dec 2017

The Trip to Krabi was planned way back in June 2017.  I was contemplating where to head when this gem of a place popped up in my mind. I did some research and booked the tickets from MakeMyTrip. Costed me total Rs 100,000 for three of us. It was a long wait for  a trip in December. Long 5 month wait. It was not easy but we waited eagerly.

2 weeks before the travel date i scrambled to get the necessary currency and took service from BookMyForex. I took 25,000 Baht and 300 USD. It was super convenient and I took a travel insurance as well.

Before the  D day , since travelling with small kid, had to make necessary arrangement with snacks, ready to eat, milk power etc.

We took a flight form Delhi to Bangkok with a 4 hour stop over and then flight to Krabi which was mere 1 hour . All this was on Thai airways. Which I feel is an excellent choice when travelling to Thailand . We took our visa on arrival in Bangkok and costed 2200 baht per person . For flights to domestic, the Cafeteria is Decent and has great views. Wifi was free at Airport.

Krabi is a small city in south of Thailand , with relatively lesser tourist compared to Bangkok or Phuket
So that suited us well. Upon reaching th airport we had booked  a cab from hotel and costed us 600 baht one way.

Out hotel was a gem in midst of all the greenery . Downside being it was away from the beach. Around 10 mins by car or tempo. It helped that they had a regular shuttle from hotel.

Day 1: Upon reaching the hotel we were greeted by Net. He was really helpful and friendly. Same day we attended the Thai night the hotel has every Thursdays. We had dinner and there were some dance performances from their staff. There were some games, firm performances and finally we flew a sky lantern. It was a great experience. We also met a couple from Delhi the same day on their honeymoon in Krabi

Day 2: As Saurabh and Getika , our new friends didn't have any plan and was their last day in Krabi, they decided to go with us to Railay and Phrannag Bay. Both these beaches are amazing and considering they are just 10 mins tail boat from Ao nang, they are so much worth it. Costed us just 100 baht per person one side. Once at Railay we walked to Phranang Bay. It was a breath taking view and we spent 2 hours there.

Once back we rested for few hours and went for massage.
It was a day well spent and finally had dinner at

We also explored the innumerable tour and travels and opted for a Day tour of Emerald pool, hot springs and elephant ride the next day. Costed us 1000 baht per person

Day 3: We went to the tour and it was great. The Hot spring was around 70 km from our hotel and full of tourists. After thinking a lot whether to go or not inside, we decided to at least spend some time in water. Next was Emerald pool. It was crowded too. The walk to the pool was around  a KM through the jungle.

After emerald pool we had our lunch in a restaurant outside.

Once the lunch was done we again headed to our final destination that was elephant ride. It was a very interesting that we headed towards our hotel. And after almost an hour, when we were very near the hotel, we cam to a elephant farm. It was within the city. A small sanctuary where elephants were kept as if just for tourists. They looked a bit old , but it was fun.
They asked to buy the pics for 150 baht but we didn't buy as we already paid 100 baht to elephant rider to take our pics.

Day 4
It was relax day and we stayed at hotel. It got a bit boring after lunch, so we went outside and booked the night market tour. Costed us around 150 baht per person. Confidently we got the same driver as previous day./ The ride took us almost 30 mins. When we reached the market. it looked like a big party. At the center was a stage where kids were performing. All around were shops selling variety of stuff. The souvenirs were not that cheap compared to market near our hotel. there were some shops nearby , were we could buy some really cheap crocs. We bought a pair for our daughter. Nothing much for vegetarians though. My wife and daughter struggled a bit , and it was crazy busy as it was sunday. I tried some sushi which was really cheap like 50 baht for 5. And some coconut ice cream which was also good.

Day 5.
Taking cue from our Day 4 , we had decided to make this day busy with some planned tour of islands. We took the hong island tour. We had heard a lot about it as it was supposed to be less tiring as we were with kid. Compared to Phi Phi which was supposed to be tiring. We took a mini van to the beach , from where we took a speed boat. Speed boat took around 15 mins to reach hong island. Not that far luckily.  There were 4 stops. One was the landing island, Hong island and

Once back,we releaxed a bit and went to Ao nang beach for sunset. Surprisingly it was  a great place to hangout in evenings and we were coming for first time. Hope we had come every day and spent time here. We went for dinner at The Beach hotel. It was amazing food and ambience.

Day 6

Our last day of the trip was spent just doing some shopping . Wife bought many bags for everyone in the family. I did some shopping from 7 11 shops , which i found very convenient and cheap. And thus came end to our vacation.
