Kasauli in June

First Step Hotel Booking We were four adults me , my wife and parents. Ideally looking for a family room. I tried looking for hotels in Kasauli just a few days before my travel as it was planned at last minute. Luckily i found a room available for a family of four in Bird's View . I directly called and booked a Premier cottage for four on Ground floor, right next to reception. Raja is one man army. Had to follow up a bit to get the room confirmation done but that was fine, as i think i got a better deal compared to booking online. Journey - Delhi to Kasauli We started from Delhi on 3rd morning 6:00am and planned to reach Kasauli by 12. But that was not to be. We reched Parwanoo around 11:30 and after that we got a traffic. Finally we reached Kasauli around 1:30pm Day 1 Kasauli Check-in at hotel was smooth and we were quickly shown are room which was a double bed set. It was more like a Studio with an attached Room. But it was spacious none the less. The b...

Land of Royals and royalty - Udaipur

UDAIPUR Diaries------ For quite some time now Udaipur was on my wishlist of cities I wanted to visit. It was actually right up there at the top of my wishlist. So i decided to go in August . It was a lucky chance that no other destination seemed viable in this monsoon weather and i narrowed down on Udaipur. For hotel i did lot or research and finally decided on  Trident. I got a good deal with Third night at 50% rate and total for 3 days came at 20K. That was decent for a 5 star property. I took a train from Delhi , that was Marwar express and it reached Udaipur in morning around 7am. I called the hotel from station and requested for early check-in. They obliged and as soon as i reached hotel i got a room. More on that and hotel review at hotel review link given below Link to my review - Tripadvisor review Trident I hadn't made a day to day plan before reaching Udaipur, but i had in my mind my must see things. Like the Udaivillas, Lak Pichola, Citi Palace, shopping a...

Chembra Peak (Kerala) Trek

Image
I got the first hand experience to witness and feel why Kerala is called "Gods own country" I went there with a group of 3 on July 21st 2012 . We left Bangalore around 10:30pm by bus and reached the place around 10am next day. This included a 3 hour wait at Bandipur National Park as its closed till 6am and a 2 hour breakfast break. The base camp is further 3.5 KM through the beautifully breath taking tea estate of some Ms Fatima. Finally ready by 11am to start our trek , we left with lot of excitement and hope to reach the summit within 90 minutes. A target we set for our self. The trek itself is moderate level. When we started we realized this is not going to be easy. As it was slippery after the morning shower. We reached the beautiful heart shaped lake around 12 with still two thirds of route remaining till the top. But the views were so breathtaking that we kept stopping to take pics along the way. It was raining intermittently , but that didn't deter us e...

Reverb @ Great india palace noida

Well i visited this club with my fiance last week. It was Tuesday, so as expected the crowd was thin. Only a big gang of people ( guess for some company party) and few girl groups could be spotted. As with most pubs, entry for girls was free and couple had to pay 1000 bucks to enter. It is a nice club i would say with good contemporary hindi/punjabi and english music. The sitting was nice and provided some privacy. Away from the normal public. Cost wise , it is expensive. Beer pint was around 300bucks. pheww   (Well the cost of a beer pint for me is like the Mac D index. Its cost will tell me how expensive the club/pub or restaurant is in general :) )  Check out the reviews in Zomato for more details http://www.zomato.com/ncr/restaurants/noida/sector-38/reverb-club-3266

Parikarma CP(The Revolving Restaurant)

We went to Parikarma last Sunday. Me , my fiance , her brother and my bro. We called them up before going for reservation and they said NO. That was a bit surprising as all big restaurants accept reservation. We reached there around 8pm and were quickly escorted to the main sitting area. To our surprise it was not a very comfortable experience sitting there with the revolving base giving 360 view of the city. We sat there and ordered our food and drinks. For starters we ordered the veg platter with mushrooms, paneer tikka and potato. It was ok. Not that great. Main course was dal makhani and malai kofta. Food service was not at all great. They served our drink in a broken glass. But was quickly changed. I would say its a one time experience.

Coorg

Coorg is a beautiful hill station situated 250KM from Bangalore. We have to cross Mysore and from there 100KM to reach Madikeri, the biggest town in Coorg. People compare it with Ooty or other such destination in South India ,but frankly there is no comparison. This place is untouched compared to other popular destinations. Has beautiful Coffee estates stretched for miles, has numerous national parks. Living in a coffee estate is an experience in itself. If possible do Campfire and gaze at stars after it becomes really dark. If estate has barbecue facility you can cook your own food. Things which can't be missed is going to the Wayanad national park at night. Seeing the glowing eyes of Deer is a breathtaking experience. We loved it.
